Our Winter Music Night took place on Monday and MP Oliphant’s attendance was a lovely surprise. Thank you to all the performers for their beautiful performance, and thanks to all students who assisted behind the scenes. I extend a very special thank you to Ms. Kiousis for her unwavering support and leadership.
On Wednesday, our Varsity Boys Hockey team courageously took on the Alumni Hockey team in our annual Charity Alumni Game. Students and staff who attended the event raised over $750 to support Eva’s Place. Congratulations to all members of our student team for playing so well. Thank you to Ms. Melconian and Mr. Minchopoulos for their assistance with organizing this event.
On behalf of all the staff at York Mills, I wish you and your family a peaceful and happy holiday season!

Thursday, January 30 is a P.A. Day and the building will be closed to students, as staff prepare for Semester Two.
Semester Two classes will begin on Friday, January 31. We will follow a regular schedule on this day.
Registration for Semester 2 is now open! Please check the links below for course listings and site map locations. York Mills is NOT a night school site. Registration opens at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020. The last day to submit a request to Counsellors is Tuesday, January 21, 2020. To register, students should go to www.creditprograms.ca, click on Night School and then Login to E-Reg. Once students confirm their request, a parent consent form will be sent to their emails. Students should make an appointment with their Counsellor and bring the consent form in order to get their request approved. Students should also ensure they have earned the pre-requisite, if applicable. Although it states on the website that requests can be made until January 30, we ask that all paperwork be submitted by January 21 as we will be going into an exam period and want to ensure that all requests are processed prior to the deadline date. Spaces are limited! Classes begin week of Monday, February 10.
Please visit www.creditprograms.ca for more details.
In order to begin the university application process, students require a PIN number. Individualized PIN numbers have already been distributed. PIN numbers that have not yet been retrieved can be obtained in the Guidance office. We encourage students to complete their applications prior to Christmas holidays so that they may access assistance if needed both by their Guidance Counsellor and/or the OUAC. Once students return from holidays, they will be focused on exam preparation. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2020.
University Applicants - The OUAC (Ontario Universities’ Application Centre) is officially closed for the holidays from December 24, 2019 to January 1, 2020, inclusive. The OUAC website (www.ouac.on.ca) and online applications will be available during this time. To reduce the chance of delays and slower online response times, university-bound students should complete and submit their 101 application well in advance of the January 15, 2020 deadline. Extended Applicant Services hours will be available before the 101 application deadline from Monday, January 13 to Wednesday, January 15: 9:30 am to 7 pm (ET). The Applicant Services Phone Number is 519-823-1063.
College Applicants – The deadline to apply to college (www.ontariocolleges.ca) is February 1st. If college-bound students require assistance, please visit https://www.ontariocolleges.ca/en/contact-us for live chat and holiday hours.
All students are welcome to see their alpha Counsellor when we return from the winter break.
Wishing you a restful and joyous holiday and best wishes in the new year from Student Services.
