SHSM – Specialist High Skills Major
At ECI, we have three Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Programs. These programs are fully funded by the Ministry of Education and allow students to focus their learning on a field of interest while earning a Red Seal for their High School Diploma designating them as a Specialist in the field.
All programs require students to take a ‘bundle’ of courses in grade 11 and 12 (usually 1 English, 1 Math, 2 Co-op, 4 credits in their major, and an additional credit in a related field), as well as participate in additional sector-recognized certifications, reach ahead activities at post-secondary institutions, and experiential learning opportunities in careers related to their specialist.
