SVYIA Report - Michele Hopper

Having reached approx. $370,000 of our $420,000 commitment to help raise funds for the lab, The Bloorview Foundations considers our efforts sufficient and our commitment completed for this phase. Joanne reported however, that Wood Gundy took part in a trading day where $10,000 was designated to go towards the lab project, further getting us to our goal.

The Association has been involved in a series of strategy sessions where we are establishing missions, goals and guildlines. Our focus is continuing on the path of making Sunny View a center of excellence in communication and making funding for school council sustainable.

Fundraising

There was discussion of selling "art cards" in the spring. The children will do individual art and packages sold to the sunny view community. In the event that the supply expressive arts teacher will support us, It was moved by Michele Hopper and seconded by Ijoema that we launch the campaign just after Spring break. Motioned past.

Community Grants

Government funding came through for the barrier free healthcare site.

Laura is planning to submit a community "reaching out" grant in the Fall.

Petty Cash

Guildlines for spending school float were discussed and presented by Joanne - the new criteria will be given to Susan Deokie.

Camp

Accounting for the camp has been sufficient but questions are being raised as to whether the expenses are all justified. Joanne and Ijoema to meet with principals once they are named.

Other Business

There is a proposed family event for May 3rd. Paul Brown from the Odette Foundation knows another foundation that is willing to pay for food at such an event. They will be approached. Family Services from Holland Bloorview is hoping to have a guest speaker attend to talk about services available to our families.

Meeting adjourned at 1:30
