Graduates
In the month of November, guidance will continue to support Grade 12 students in their applications to Post Secondary programs. On November 6th, we will target college applicants with support sessions in the library.
Grade 12’s are reminded that the last day to drop a course without it remaining on their transcript, is Wed Nov 20th. It is the students responsibility to ensure any drops do not impact their post secondary plans or their graduation status.
For All Students
Volunteering
Guidance is hosting a Volunteer Fair on Wednesday November 13th at lunch. Various community agencies will set up booths in the front foyer to provide students with an overview of the volunteer opportunities they have. Students are encouraged to continue to check the guidance google classroom, as we continually post new volunteer opportunities as we receive them. We remind students and their families that it is their responsibility to contact volunteer agencies to set up their volunteer experience. Guidance does not contact agencies on behalf of students.
Online Course Graduation requirement
As part of the 30 credits required for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, all students are required to complete 2 credits through elearning. Not all online courses count towards this requirement. Elearning is asynchronous and completed either in the summer or during the grade 12 year. If families do not feel this will benefit their student, there is an Opt Out form available in the guidance office. By completing this form, families give permission for 2 of their students’ in person credits to be counted towards this requirement.
