Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Thistletown Collegiate Institute’s first website. We want you to be able to access the many great happenings in our fantastic school, see our strength and diversity and see our amazing students in action! Thistletown is a secondary school of 600 students steeped in many wonderful traditions and our staff and students are very proud of our school culture. Our dedicated teaching staff is committed to preparing our students for Post-Secondary success by fostering skills in critical and analytical thinking, problem solving and scientific inquiry applied to real world situations. We are proud of the many Ontario Scholars who graduate from Thistletown every year.

We care about the well-being of our students, staff and parents.  Our focus is on treating each other with dignity, equity and respect. This caring and supportive environment allows students to feel at home while at school and to do their best as they prepare for the world ahead.

The school has a well-established, positive and active partnership with our community. Students have access to a variety of athletic teams and intramural sports, arts- music, drama, native and visual art and dance; culinary experiences and clubs such as the Braeburn Homework club, Girls and Boys Groups, the Rites program, and a Breakfast program to support and broaden your adolescents’ achievements. We are also very proud of our two Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSMs) in Hospitality and Tourism and in Arts and Culture to intensify the skills and knowledge in these associated fields for students looking to enter these professions. We also offer an Autism and Gifted/Enriched Academic Program to enhance the learning of all our students. Our goal is to equip every student with the academic and social skills needed to be successful, to understand the value of lifelong learning, to develop healthy interpersonal relationships and to be prepared for a rapidly changing workplace. Our graduates are successful in attending many Universities, Colleges, Apprenticeship programs. We encourage your child to become involved and engaged outside of the class room as it will enhance their high school experience.

This website cannot take the place of visiting our School; so I warmly welcome you to visit us and discover firsthand the great programs and leadership opportunities we have to offer your child at Thistletown Collegiate Institute. Please feel free to stop by at any time to see our school in action and connect with us about any questions or concerns you may have.

Warmest regards,

Principal Thistletown C.I
