School Code of Conduct

Students Absent from Class

If a student is absent from class because of a field trip, an athletic event, and/or school business:

· it is the responsibility of the student to tell the teacher ahead of the time of the event (as soon as he/she is aware of the date/time)

· there will be no penalty for missed work, missed assignments, or missed tests if completed as arranged

· if the student does not speak to the teacher in advance, there is no obligation on the part of the teacher to accommodate the situation.
It is the teacher's discretion regarding what should be done with respect to the missed work or assessment.

Anti-Bullying Pledge

By following this pledge, we the students agree to:

· Value student differences and treat others with respect.
· Not become involved in bullying incidents or be a bully.
· Be aware of the school's policies and support system with regard to bullying.
· Report honestly and immediately all incidents of bullying to a staff member.
· Be alert in places around the school where there is less adult supervision such as bathrooms, corridors and stairwells.
· Support students who have been or are being subjected to bullying.
· Talk to teachers and parents about concerns and issues regarding bullying.
· Work with other students and staff members to help the school deal with bullying effectively.
· Encourage teachers to discuss bullying issues in the classroom.
· Provide a good role model for younger students and support them if bullying occurs.
· Participate fully and contribute to assemblies dealing with bullying.

Code of Conduct

Students at TCI are expected to be respectful at all times and to follow our school’s Code of Conduct. The purpose of our Code of Conduct is to promote positive behaviour in an effort to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all staff and students. The Code of Conduct is based on Respect for Self and Others, Respect for Safety, Respect for Property and Respect for Learning.
