RESPECT FOR SELF AND OTHERS

Responsibility to Identify Oneself:  

Students must identify themselves when requested to by any staff member and follow the directions of staff members when asked.  All students are asked to carry their TCI student card at all times as it is required to enter the gym to watch sporting events and to sign out books or use computers in the library.  Students must see their VP for a temporary ID if they lose their card.

Substitute Teachers and Guests:
Substitute teachers are our guests and are to be treated with the utmost of respect and courtesy.  Students are expected to attend classes and complete all of the assigned work.  Students who enter another classroom or gym and take advantage of a substitute teacher will be subject to disciplinary action.

Harassment/Discrimination/Fighting/Bullying/Cyberbullying:

Harassment, discrimination, intimidation and bullying will not be tolerated at TCI.  Any form of physical assault, fighting, play fighting, verbal threats, insults, sexual harassment, homophobia or demeaning remarks will result in disciplinary action and possible police involvement. Threats of any other kind against a person in the school will not be tolerated.


Dress Code: 
Students must dress in manner that is appropriate for school. Beach wear or night club clothing is not acceptable; e.g. tank tops, see through, low-cut clothing.  Pants need to be worn at the waist. No chains, studded or spiked items may be worn. Underwear must not be exposed.  Clothing displaying offensive language, rude slogans or inappropriate pictures is not allowed.  Any clothing that could be construed as gang-related is prohibited.  Outside jackets or coats are not allowed in the classroom.

Headgear:
TCI has a no-headgear policy. For safety reasons, students are required to remove all headgear (caps, bandanas, hoods, “do-rags” etc.) and sunglasses upon entry into the school building, Headgear that is worn for religious purposes is exempt from this policy.

Illegal Substances and Activities:
The possession, use or sharing of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated.  Offenders will be dealt with according to TDSB policy.  Smoking is not permitted anywhere on school property and may result in a substantial fine being levied against those who violate this law. Gambling for any money or any personal gain is prohibited at TCI

Weapons:
Anything that is used to inflict or to threaten harm to another person will be considered a weapon. All dangerous items such as knives, all guns (toy guns included) and laser pointers are considered to be weapons and are prohibited. Threats of any kind will not be tolerated.

Valuables:
Please leave all valuable items and large sums of cash at home.  The school cannot ensure the safety and security of these items.
