COVID-19 Symptom Follow-Up for Parents

What to do when your child has a COVID-19 symptom

If your child develops COVID-19 Symptoms at home, please keep them home and follow the guidance on Page 2 of the TPH’s current Screening Questionnaire (updated January 10, 2022).

If your child develops COVID-19 symptoms at school, they will be relocated to our school’s supervised Wellness Room and you will be contacted to pick them up as soon as possible.

In accordance with Toronto Public Health guidelines, your child must self-isolate for 5 days and can return after this time if symptom-free or if symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (or 48 hours if the symptoms are nausea, vomiting or diarrhea).

Depending on availability, your child may go home with an At-Home PCR Saliva test from SickKids COVID-19 Salvia Testing program.

Here is how the SickKids Test program works:

  1. Complete the test at home.
  2. Bring it to Mt. Pleasant doors for drop off.
  3. Drop it off in the SickKids test sample bin just inside the Mt. Pleasant doors.
  4. In 24 to 48 hours access your child’s results or hear directly from SickKids/TPH (Positive results, only)

More information for you:

Please let us know the test results so we can support you with the next steps and return to school dates.
