All students registered to begin grade 9 at
Westview Centennial Secondary School in the fall of 2026 are able to register
for our Head Start 2 High School program on
Tuesday September 1, 2026
from 9:00 am - 1:30 pm.
During this day teachers and student leaders will
be providing a variety of activities to help support the transition from grade
8 to grade 9 and get them familiar with their new school setting. Below are
some important details students and parents should know about the day:
- Pizza Lunch will be
provided
- comfortable shoes that are
appropriate for running activities recommended
- recommended that students
bring a refillable water bottle.

on Friday August 28, 2026.

Special Education Students:
The
Ministry of Education has provided funding to support students with high
special education needs to successfully transition to school prior to the start
of the 2026-2027 school year. We are excited to be scheduling transition
programming on the following day, and would like to invite your child to
attend:

The
Summer Transition Program will:
·
Focus on transitioning back
into the school environment;
·
Offer a welcoming entry back
to school to support student well-being;
·
Allow students and staff to
build/re-establish positive rapport prior to the start of school;
·
Promote adjustment to new
routines and schedules;
·
Support IEP goals and Safety
Plans (if applicable) for the upcoming year; and
·
Allow students to
(re)acquaint themselves with the classroom and school environment and routines.
Please
note that transportation for this program is not provided, and would be the
responsibility of parents/guardians/caregivers.

with special education needs will be invited via phone call in August to
