Hockey Education Reaching Out Society (HEROS) Program
In October 2008, the HEROS Program, a volunteer-driven charity that uses the game of ice hockey to teach life-skills and empower marginalized youth, started introducing hundreds of students from Jane-Finch neighbourhood schools to ice hockey. Since 2010, dozens of Westview students, graduates of the HEROS Program known as HEROS All Stars, continued their involvement in the program by volunteering as mentors at weekly on ice skills and drills activities.
HEROS All Stars have volunteered more than 3000 hours, mentoring young HEROS hockey players, and volunteering at various events in their community.
