Principal's Message

Dear Westview Students,

I am excited for another exciting chapter in the Westview story. Over the past two years, I have been inspired by the meaningful and purposeful relationships forged between staff, students, parents, and our greater community.  The word that I constantly use to describe all of you is RESILIENT. Another word that I often use to describe you is BRILLIANT. No matter what you face, you continue to remain positive, focussed, strong, and true to who you are. In all situations, you find solutions, which propel you to the next level. YOU ARE  WESTVIEW and YOU create a learning environment that is authentic, culturally relevant, challenging and innovative.

I encourage you to take a moment to appreciate your teachers. Get to know them and listen to their words of wisdom.  WESTVIEW TEACHERS are real life  SUPERHEROES. They set the highest expectations for you because they believe in you.  Know that your teachers are strong, talented, and brilliant  individuals. Never take them for granted and ask them for the help that you need. This year, teachers are going beyond the call of duty, to offer extra help before and after school. If you need help with your subjects, reach out to your teachers, they are here to support you.

I encourage you to take a moment to get to know the WESTVIEW SUPPORT STAFF. They are the front line. Know their names, and how they help to create a learning environment, that is clean, safe, and supportive. They work tirelessly to create a school that truly feels like home. They believe in you and work hard to improve your learning environment. When you get a moment, thank them for their support of you. I know that they support you, because they talk about you daily.I want to let you know that  THIS YEAR IS UNLIKE ANY OTHER.  Did you know that we have more clubs than we have ever had?  Did you know that students in grades 11 and 12, are teaching younger students, at the feeder schools, to prepare them for high school?  Did you know that we are 150 students above our projected enrollment. Our numbers are growing steadily? The word is out, that WESTVIEW IS THE PLACE TO BE!

On a final note, know that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE when people believe in you and push you to reach your full potential. Determine your strengths, and weakness and make a plan to turn your weaknesses into strengths. If you need help, seek it. If you are strong in a subject, seek an enriched experience. Set goals and continue to PUSH.  Take control of your learning journey and DO NOT ALLOW ANYTHING TO STAND IN YOUR WAY.  I WISH YOU A SUCCESSFUL YEAR WESTVIEW.
