Program Specific Information
1. Before coming, remind students:
this program is not “an outing”, it is a “work day”
dress appropriately for travel to and from Kapapamahchakwew - Wandering Spirit School
bring a bottle of water - no drinking fountains
to behave appropriately when travelling on the TTC
all program materials, including pencils and clipboards, are provided
- The documents in this program could act as a trigger regarding traumatic experiences linked to residential schools. Please prepare your students and their families for this possibility and share these resources from the TDSB’s Urban Indigenous Education Centre.
2. Students need to bring a packed lunch and a drink. Water only please. TUSC is a Platinum EcoSchool - Waste-Free Lunches are expected!
Location and Travel Instructions
The program begins at Kapapamahchakwew - Wandering Spirit School
(formerly First Nations School of Toronto on the site of the former Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute).
Go to Donlands Subway Station (Bloor Subway Line); On the surface walk South to the intersection of Donlands and Danforth Avenue and cross to the South side of Danforth; turn right and travel West on Danforth about 50 m to Euston Avenue; turn left and travel South on Euston about 100 m to Chatham Avenue; turn left and travel East on Chatham Avenue about 130 m to Phin Avenue; turn right and travel south on Phin to the south east corner of Wandering Spirit School and enter at Door #3.
Buses should drop off and pick up at 16 Phin avenue.
